have the guts

http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/guts.htm

有膽,帶種

膽 means gall

gut means center of the body...oh well...wondering why both western and eastern are all agreed that it has to do with your belly when you are daring to do something.

:D

Due Date

As a matter of fact, it could be another meaning of deadline
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/due+date

However, true story here, when I was in a graduate school party and I was not aware there was one woman who was expecting. SO, when one of faculty asked her when was her due date (意指何時生小孩),
and I thought
she was asking me (you know, in the party group, plus noses, distraction and all that in the party).
I thought she asked when we had to
turn in the final paper for one prof's class....oh...well...only I could say that was very embarrassing moment.
That was more than 10 years ago. Now I am able to joke around under this kind of case.

Anyhow, be aware of the situation when someone asks this kind of questions, nothing serious though, unless...hum...

due date: 預產日
               繳費日
               交報告日
               (總之是,你欠啥而該交啥的日子囉)

You have fallen hard

"fall " in a past tense and with "hard"

simply means the person found a Mr./Miss Right (maybe lol)

hum... that reminds me in Chinese way

愛上一個人如同"掉進不可自拔的深淵"

however, "掉進不可自拔的深淵" could be used to describe other cases such as gambling, stock market...ho ho ho

BTW, [ fall "for" ] meaning "love" someone. Please don't ask the person, R u ok? unless...

RPM = Revenue Per Mille impressions
And this M is even not a English word!

German : lieblings

I got this figurine from unique thrift store
and I was a little bit worried about the wording on the bottom
I thought it could be some sort of cute but dark magic.
After google it,
it turns out was a German word means darling or Favorite

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_Liebling_mean_in_German

no offense to Germany/German, but really, why this language looks so "harsh"
even it is supposed to be cute
I mean "darling", isn't it supposed to be a cute word? man....

off log
